1. Cuts the retakes and the dead air. 21.5 s of raw take became 4.3 s: a restart and 12.5 s of dead air, gone.
2. Makes it sound like a podcast. Eddy cleans your voice and lifts the quiet words (this line: -24.0 to -15.0 LUFS), then puts a whoosh where the picture switches.
3. Adds the layouts. Your face fills the frame while you talk. When you show your screen, it takes over and you move to the corner.
4. You just ask. You type “The model list down here is tiny. Can you zoom in on it?” Eddy asks which shot, then shows your screen and zooms in. Each change has an undo.

What videos does Eddy edit?
Talking-head and screen-recorded YouTube videos. That's what Eddy has been tested on so far. Record in Eddy, or drag in footage you already have.
How long does an edit take?
In our latest test on 16 Oct 2026, a 75-minute recording took about 2 hours on a busy Mac. Eddy edits while you do something else.
Is it really ready to publish?
That's the goal. Eddy is in beta, so you watch every edit before it goes out. It doesn't make captions, titles or thumbnails yet, and it never uploads anything on its own.
Why do I need ChatGPT or Claude?
Eddy is bring-your-own-agent. Your ChatGPT or Claude makes the editing calls on the plan you already pay for. No Eddy credits and no extra AI subscription. Your plan's usage limits apply.
Can my own agent run it?
Yes. Claude Code and Codex can drive Eddy through its skill, which ships with the beta.
Where does my footage go?
Your footage stays on your Mac. To propose edits, Eddy sends the transcript, other relevant text and a few selected frames to the AI provider you choose, through your own account. That provider's terms apply to what it receives. More in Privacy.
Is Eddy made by Descript?
No. Eddy is an independent Mac app run by Lennox Saint. Descript is a trademark of its owner. We only mention it to say what Eddy is like.
What will Eddy cost after the 10?
$49 one-time for the next 5 buyers. Then the price rises $10 every 5 buyers. The first 10 creators pay no Eddy fee for the app and every v1 update.
